Contemporary country garden, hampshire
A handsome modern house, set back from a pretty village high street, but which currently sits uneasily in its surroundings.
The design brief is to use landscaping to create unified and coherent gardens around the house, helping it settle into its position.
There is currently no sight line to the house, so the drive will be re-located, with pleached pear trees either side to improve privacy and add a sense of drama in the approach. New garaging, pergola and porches will soften the transition between the house and garden, bridging the different current architectural styes.
Strong evergreen planting will add structure and definition, with repeated herbaceous planting combinations creating rhythm through the gardens, and softening existing features such as the steel gabions behind the swimming pool.
