New build family garden, North Dublin
This house in a new development by Phoenix Park in Dublin has a rather awkward wraparound garden, but with a lovely sunny aspect.
The client was keen to extend their living space by making part of the garden an outdoor room, and so the design incorporates a large teak covered pergola, with a large dining table.
The brief was for the garden to be characterful and romantic, reminiscent of the client’s parents countryside garden, but suited to their small family. A small lawn has been retained, with raised beds protected from rogue footballs, and a wall-mounted water feature to add calming background sound.
The planting is soft, with a gentle palette of blues, pinks, purples and whites, and using traditional country garden plants such as roses, anemones and lavender.
Vintage tiling adds character and individuality, picking up the slate blue colour of the trellis, and looks particularly attractive behind pink blooms.
